Vinehall children enjoy a busy and purposeful day, which is designed to give them a wide variety of activities, ranging from their academic lessons through to sport, drama, music, clubs and time to play in the beautiful grounds. The Vinehall day starts at 8.15 when the children register in their forms. They move on either to assembly, house meetings or form meetings. Lessons start at 8.45 a.m. and we try to ensure that the children are taught mathematics and English towards the start of the day. During the morning we have a long break of half an hour and the children have a snack and play outside. Lunch times vary. The younger children come in to the dining room at 12.15 and the older ages come in at 1.00 p.m. After lunch there is 'Rest'! This can be quite busy, however, for as well as a period of reading there are also opportunities for choir, orchestra and other clubs. Each day there is over an hour of games, so our children get plenty of fresh air and exercise. The children finish at 5.20 p.m. when the boarders then go in to supper. There are also a number of clubs after supper, and day children can stay on for them if they wish. On Wednesday afternoons children can go home at 4.00 p.m. if they are not involved in matches. On Saturdays when we don't have exeats, there are lessons for Years 6 to 8 which finish at 12.15. The boarders then have their activities. The Vinehall week is busy and exciting and gives the children so many wonderful opportunities. As a result, many children board in order to take advantage of everything that we are able to offer. |
