Vinehall is a charity, run by a Board of Governors who are trustees.
David is the current Chairman of the Board, which he joined in 2003. Until his retirement in 2007 he was a Consultant to the firm of Heringtons, solicitors, and previously senior partner practising in Battle, Rye and Hastings. He had four sons at Vinehall. David is also a member of the F&GP Committee and a Trustee of St Michael's Hospice Development Trust.
After a Deputy Headship at Tonbridge Grammar School, Vanessa spent eleven years as Headteacher of a large comprehensive school in Kent. She is currently an Executive Headteacher of a secondary school in Maidstone and an accredited School Improvement Partner supporting several secondary schools in Kent. All her three sons attended Vinehall and she was elected Governor in March 2011.
Will Foster-Kemp is a tax director for a large asset management company and was elected a Governor in November 2010. He is a Vine (Old Boy) and treasurer for the Vines Society. He is the current Chairman of the F&GP Committee.
Known to all as Liz, she joined the Board in 1993 having had two sons at Vinehall who left in 1991. A local florist, (her description – she actually creates the most wonderful arrangements for weddings, etc.!!), she has been a member of the F&GP and Risk Committees and is currently the designated Governor responsible for overseeing child protection.
Malcolm is a Vine (Old Boy) and is also most active in the Vines Society. His son was also at Vinehall. He became a Governor in 1985, was formerly a mechanical engineer and company director. He is the current Chairman of the Risk Committee.
Tim is the current Head of Tonbridge School and was elected in December 2005.
Philip is a long-standing Governor, having been elected in 1978. He was a House Master and Head of English at Eastbourne College, but is now a leadership and communication consultant based in Jersey. He has brought his skills in directing plays and writing sonnets to Vinehall where his "Hands-on" and "Go-for-it" approach have kept Governors on their toes. He has been instrumental in setting up the Vinehall Foundation, chairing the Steering Committee. He is currently a member of the F&GP Committee.
Angela and her husband are local farmers who also own a rural business park. She is a magistrate sitting on the Hastings and Eastbourne bench. She has had two children at the school and was elected as Governor in 2001. She is a member of both the F&GP Committee and Risk Committee.
Caroline is a journalist. Amongst other things she reviews books for the Daily Telegraph where her husband, Charles, was editor until he left to write Margaret Thatcher's biography. They had two children at the School, and she became a Governor in 2004, a year after the children left. She is a member of the Risk Committee.
Paul was elected a Governor in March 2007. He and his wife Margie (who is Vinehall's Director of Studies) had four children at the School. Paul initially worked in computer software in space, defence and related sectors then in the pharmaceutical sector and now runs his own software company, providing customer relationship software. He is on the Vinehall Foundation Steering and F&GP Committees and is also a Trustee of St Michael's Hospice Development Trust.
Patrick became a Governor in 2004 and is currently a member of the F&GP Committee. He is a retired GP and had two sons at the School.
Nick is the only founder member of the Board remaining, setting up (with others) the company known as Vinehall School Limited in 1966. A Vine and a retired accountant. Since retiring he has become a Citizens Advice advisor and treasurer of two committees. He is a member of the F&GP Committee.
Mike joined the Board of Governors March 2011. Prior to retirement he worked for an international bank in the Middle and Far East. He has previous experience as a governor working with schools both overseas and in the U.K. and is looking forward to being part of the team at Vinehall.
Known as Bill, he joined the Board in 1994. A retired Bank Manager, he had three children at Vinehall and now has a grandchild at the School. He is a member of the Risk Committee.
