Vinehall has a flourishing former pupils' society called the Vines Society, membership of which is open to all leavers on payment of a life subscription. The aim of the Society is to foster friendships which have been forged at the School. The Society is run by the Vines and is wholly self-financing. The current Chairman is Matthew Wilson, the Treasurer is Will Foster-Kemp, and the Secretary is Malcolm Gordon, who can be contacted c/o Vinehall School. The Society has a Committee which meets twice annually, and there is always an Annual General Meeting on Vines Day in the Summer.
The Vines Society sends out regular newsletters to its members, and there is a Vines Day organised at the School each year, usually on the first Sunday of July. The day offers former pupils the opportunity of meeting up with friends and keeping in touch with developments in the School. Traditionally the Vines cricketers take on the 'Head's XI', and the Friends of Vinehall organise a fete for the entertainment of the children and Vines. It is always a very happy family day.
The Vines Society is 50!
This year the Society celebrates its 50th Anniversary and the School is 70 years old, so the weekend of 28th/29th June was dedicated to celebrating these momentous anniversaries.
The Vintage Ball was held on Saturday 28th June and as expected was a fantastic affair. The Society is very grateful to the Ball Team from the Friends of Vinehall for their hard work to achieve this wonderful celebration.
Vines Day, on Sunday 29th June, took on a special significance and Vines of all generations, including some from the earliest days of the school, came to enjoy the day. The Leavers’ Service was followed by a Buffet Lunch and the 50th Annual General Meeting of the Society. The cricket match was played in glorious weather but this year the Vines XI did not repeat its 2006 success, and the Head’s XI just prevailed in a high-scoring match.

The fête, held in the huge marquee erected for the Ball, was better than ever and there were displays on the history of Vinehall since 1938.
An excellent tea was marked, as usual, by the presentation of the Tom Stuart Menteath Cup and this year, for the first time, the presentation of the Gilbart Travel Bursary to Jack Thomson and Will Thoms. A presentation was also made to Ruth Close to mark her retirement, having looked after office administration for The Vines Society for more than ten years.
Any Vines who are not receiving correspondence from the Society should make sure that we have an up-to-date address.
