Early Years: Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception
Early Years

The Early Years of a child’s education are crucial to future development and achievement. At Vinehall Pre-Prep we provide the children with a caring and nurturing atmosphere, encouraging confidence and enthusiasm for learning through stimulating and creative experiences.

Making a happy start – induction

It is important to us that children settle quickly and happily into Vinehall School.

Parents are invited to an induction evening where they will meet the Early Years staff and find out more about the curriculum and daily format.

Each child will receive a personal invitation to a ‘taster morning’ where they can come and visit their new class. To make them feel at home the invitations have a photograph of the teacher and assistant who will be caring for them. They will be invited to bring in a favourite book or toy to share with us.

During the morning we allow for some quality time to be spent getting to know the children, introducing them to their peers and the new environment. There is usually a ‘treasure hunt’ so that the children are encouraged to explore the classroom and begin to know where things are.

At the end of the morning the staff plan time for an informal chat so that they can get to know new families or become re-acquainted with parents of siblings they have previously taught.

There are plenty of ways of sharing information about your child; parents are asked to fill in All About Me booklets and medical forms. An information pack is sent out to all parents in the Early Years or when joining us at a later stage.

Most of all we value the daily contact which we particularly encourage when parents are collecting their children at the end of each school day.
